This match offered a chance for several Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
